What is the First European Cybersecurity Seminar?

The First European Cybersecurity Seminar is the first seminar organized by the Spanish business association SESCA on cybersecurity topics. It will take place in Astorga (SPAIN) from July 14th to July 16th.
It is a unique opportunity for European students to get involved in the most relevant cybersecurity topics.
There is no seminar fee for students.

To whom are the scholarships addressed?

  • To students not older than 30 years
  • Who are citizens of any member state of the European Union or that have a Residence permit in the European Union
  • Who are finalizing their studies in Informatics or a similar field of study who are currently enrolled in an IT Post-graduate Programme. Young IT professionals and professors can also apply. If your field of study is not Informatics (e.g. Political Sciences or Law) , please explain in your motivation letter, why you are interested in cybersecurity.
  • Who have sent a motivation letter together with their CV through the application form
  • An advanced level of English is recommended

What do we expect from our Volunteers?

In addition to attending the conference sessions during the Seminar, we expect you to actively collaborate with the organizers in the following tasks:

  • Attendance to the different sessions is compulsory unless Volunteers are delegated to perform other tasks.
  • Volunteers will prepare meaningful and relevant questions to each speakers and ask them during the conference (in small teams).
  • Volunteer teams will also take notes and prepare reports for each of the sessions and help to draw conclusions after the seminar.
  • You will participate in different organizational tasks such as logistics, registration desks, preparation of multimedia devices and others.

Advantages of obtaining a scholarship

  • Full board and accommodation are covered by the organisers
  • The entrance to the seminar, conference and workshops is free of charge
  • Up to 250 Euros reimbursement for travel expenses (see notice below)*
  • Possibility to attend to many sessions of the Seminar and to learn about different aspects of cybersecurity from different international speakers
  • Possibility to get into contact with professionals, experts and companies from the field of cybersecurity
  • Each volunteer will receive a seminar attendance certificate from the organizing national association, provided that they have fully complied with the seminar rules.

* NOTICE:
For the reimbursement of  travel costs from the city of origin to Astorga, proper original invoces will be required as proof of payment. The maximum amount to be reimbursed is 250 Euros for each Volunteer coming from Europe and up to 100 euros for Volunteers coming from Spain.
There is no travel cost reimbursement for local Volunteers residing in the vicinity of León and Astorga.
Please note that the infringement of the seminar rules for Volunteers (including assistance to designated sessions, punctuality, proper fulfillment of reports and question tasks, among others) can imply the loss of travel costs reimbursement and even the right to attend at the seminar.
